The San Diego Turtle & Tortoise Society currently has several sulcata tortoises (all different sizes) available for adoption to good homes. As always, there is never a fee. Before responding to this ad please read the caresheet on our website, sdturtle.org and be prepared to send pix of your yard and the heated house that they'll need. Sulcata Tortoises are the most people friendly of all the tortoise species. They don't bite (only snapping turtles bite) and love to have their necks and shells rubbed. These big guys, which can reach 200 lbs, are very low maintenance and can easily subsist on grass, weeds, and hay. This ad will be removed once they've all been adopted. Also available for adoption are Russian and desert tortoises, box turtles and red eared sliders
