Floor Hand & (optional) Delivery Driver Rug Expo Rug Expo, the largest showroom of rugs in San Diego is hiring! This is for a full-time position as a Floor Hand and, optionally, Delivery Driver. The Floor Hand & Delivery Driver's main responsibility is to interface with employees and customers on several projects at one time and make sure they are performed safely, timely, and professionally. Rug Expo is the largest rug store in San Diego and has the top reviews and ranking on both Yelp ( ) and Google My Business ( ) in San Diego for Rugs. We have a reputation for friendliness, service, selection, and prices, so we get a lot of customers in the store especially on weekends and holidays. This position is primarily for a “Floor Hand,” which is a member of a team of in-store helpers and laborers, assisting sales staff and customers by moving rugs on and off of racks to the floor and rolling and loading rugs into customer’s vehicles after a sale. The Floor Hand receives and checks in rugs, unloading and stacking delivered rugs, creating tags and inventory numbers, moving rugs to the appropriate locations. To a smaller degree, it will also involve maintenance and cleaning of the store and building as assigned by management. It may also involve the skilled process of washing rugs, using supplied equipment. It may involve training on the skilled repair or alterations of rugs as well. We also prefer, but do not require this same person to be a Delivery Driver, which requires your being able to interact with customers in the pickup and delivery of area rugs for cleaning. The Delivery Driver will pick up and deliver rugs from/to the customer's location within a 25-mile radius of the store, be able to text arrival time in advance, and follow the customer’s direction on the pickup and re-installation of their rugs in their homes. A valid California Driver’s license is required. You must be self-motivated, on-time, able to work under pressure, and the ability to work and communicate effectively with all co-workers and customers in a friendly and professional way. Must be dedicated to learning all about the products and to convey your growing expertise to customers. We are seeking a candidate for a full-time position, meaning 5 days per week, however, this position requires work on Saturday and Sunday plus "Sale" Holidays such as Labor Day. Hours are normal store hours from 10 am to 6 pm, 11-6 Sunday, but sometimes one hour earlier. We are a company that requires a very high quality of work, work ethic, and integrity. REQUIREMENTS * Be on time for work and work on an assigned schedule. * Work on Saturday, Sunday plus "Sale" Holidays such as Labor Day. (We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas). * Assisting the salespeople as they work with customers to show them the best rugs for their needs. * Loading and Unloading of new rugs, inventory management, and placing them in the right section of the store in a timely manner * Keep the store clean * Possibly cleaning of rugs as assigned by the floor manager. For Drivers * Must have a valid California Driver’s license and a clean driving record. * Must be capable of driving safely and follow all driving rules. * Deliver the assigned rugs to the customers in a timely manner the day these deliveries are scheduled. * When picking up or delivering rugs at the customer’s home, ensure the rugs are handled in a careful and professional manner and satisfy the customer's wishes on how to handle the rugs and their furniture. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS The Qualifications & Skills of the Floor Hands Delivery Drivers & Helpers include, but are not limited to the following: • Must be 18 years or older • Physical Strength to Lift and Load Heavy Rugs on a Daily Basis. Be able to stand for long periods of time • Strong verbal skills to work with customers and employees.
