Description

I wrote down in my t-shirt ideas this dad level gem: vaxxed relaxed sanity (barely) intact We're on the same page. I want to try writing through Jams. Non verbal communication style. Using the body, not the head. I'm hearing this radiohead meets thee oh sees sound that I can't get to on my own because it's so groove and vibe dependent with slow shifts in dynamics which I find hard to do as I layer take after take in Ableton. See here, I want the hypnotic vibe of Radiohead but when Radiohead rocks the most it doesn't rock quite enough. But their records sound AMAZING. I've been dipping into the post Amnesiac Radiohead catalog lately and discovering a few gems I never clicked with back in the day. Thee Oh Sees rock hard but the songs and structures are too easy to get bored of. They can do hypnosis but it doesn't last over repeated listens. They are just as good at Radiohead at finding grooves and locking in together. But.. their records don't sound that good after while. Look don't get me wrong. I LOVE LOUD. But it doesn't have staying power when everything is loud. I'd like to have a standing weekday jam. Maybe 2:30-4pm. Fridays? I want to cowrite with others. It's gotta be day time for me to start cuz I have a kid and mornings on no sleep are just awful with a cranky little bugger demanding the world. And afternoons after school are pretty much the only time I have to be a decent dad and give her all my attention. But if we get a good group going I'd be happy to find other schedules that work. The comradery of being in a band on a shared mission brings me great joy and when I look back some of the most fulfilling moments of my life it was taking the stage and losing myself in the music. I'm mainly a guitar player that learned playing along to hi-gain power chords. I dislike hi-gain amp tones however. Fuzz is OK. I'm a decent engineer. I can talk about music for a solid 6 hours straight without getting bored. I can play a few 90s hip hop drum beats at fastish tempos. I love playing bass as long as I can move around a bit. There isn't enough fusion of afro/latin percussion/beats under rock music. My ear is leaning towards chords that aren't simple major/minor triads lately. as I've been trying to learn the jazz chord structures all my favorite 90s hip hop producers stole from. Still have a long way to go. But I can play the intro to Summertime from Roy Ayers and (it doesn't sound that good on guitar.) I'm a hard worker. I make music everyday. I've put out a ton of albums that I am not going to link to because I don't want to scare you off. I'm not as insane as this rambling post makes me sound like. This is more of a brain dump. I'm actually a decent communicator in person. If you're a drummer that can play the motorik beat from Neu!'s Hallogallow at a slightly faster tempo than the original and that is your idea of heaven. Please, please please get in touch.
