Description

Home studio currently offering pre-production and songwriting consulting package. I sometimes find bands that say they are ready to record need some details ironed out and don’t realize it until they are in the studio. Things like harmonies, extra guitar parts, and arrangements aren’t considered because you aren’t used to hearing things in the context of a finished record. I have been able to help every band I work with on those things but they aren’t always planned out in the arrangements until we are in the studio. Let me help you be better prepared. Details: **1 hour of free rehearsal at the house. Drums and PA provided. Need to use these in order for it to be easy and efficient for everyone. Can also provide amps if needed. Can fit 4-5 people at one time playing live. **Live in-room recording to capture what is happening. Free to use for conversation. ** 1 hour of conversation about your music, songs, and project. Also, no charge. Things we would talk about: *Does the song have enough dynamics and excitement building into the chorus or does everyone just play loud the whole time? *Who is singing harmony? Sometimes only the lead singer sings on the tracks and others aren’t accustomed to or aware of what to sing. Want fuller vocals? You need harmony. *Do you play to a click? How do you know it is in time? *Are the bass and drums locked in? What’s the drummer playing on the kick that enhances the bass part or are they clashing? *Guitar tone that matches what the rest of the band is playing. *Is there a guitar part under the solo? How does it leave space for the solo? If you decide not to work here, you haven’t spent a dime. After that if you decide you want to record with me then we can talk about the pre-production package. This would be arranged the same way. Return on another day using my studio space, drums and PA for only $20 an hour for a 3 hour minimum. We work through the new details and parts so that when you are ready to record you have all the extra pieces in mind. I can give you some basic tracks to practice with from these sessions too so that individual band members can practice on their own. At this point your investment is well under $100 with the initial conversation being free. You’re not even obligated to record with me but you’re more prepared to record and you have a much better idea of what to do. Full ad below including rates for recording which are $25 an hour which covers the full service in the studio. You can skip the consultation and just record. I do a great job at that and can offer advice but sometimes it’s not sensible to “write as you record.” (Thanks for reading this long ass post.) I love recording music and I have great gear and can get you a fantastic sounding set of songs mixed, mastered and ready for release. Rates are only $25 an hour with a 4 hour minimum. Tons of analog and digital gear. Premium vocal mics. Lots of production and arranging experience if you need additional input on your arrangements. Comfortable space for 2-3 people at a time, social distancing done as needed and I am fully vaccinated. Can do full bands but currently looking for smaller projects just to record in a safe and healthy environment. What people say about me when we work together: “Professional. Passionate. Prepared. Relaxed. Patient. Great ear. Helpful. Thinks like a musician. Teaches about the process.” Look up the studio including sounds clips at: www.fearoffishstudios.com **Also offering mastering for $25 per song. Email me for details and samples.
