Looking for local co-signer

I'm a Firefighter from South Carolina looking to move back to Roanoke this summer. My family has decided to move to AZ so I have to get a place soon. Me and one of my best friends applied for an apartment in Vinton and they said our credit isn't in the 600s, it was in the mid 500s for both of us. So they told us we have to find a co-signer that is local. So that rules my family out and his family isn't able to help us. I know most people won't do this for strangers but it's worth a shot.
