ISO Bass Player for Modern Soul Jazz Combo

Meets

New York City NY

Description

Combat Jazz, a Brooklyn-based soul jazz influenced combo mostly performing originals with a smattering of non-Real Book covers, is looking for a bass player. Either electric bass or stand-up acoustic bass (or both) is fine. Our songs are rooted in soul jazz but versatile – the occasional ethiopiques song, a ska song or surf song to mix up the rhythms. You can hear our tunes for Combat Jazz, on Spotify, Apple music or Bandcamp. We’re looking for a talented amateur to join us (all are encouraged to audition) as long as you are available to rehearse and to play out. This is not a job and professionals shall not be considered. Any rehearsal space is paid for and we’ll split evenly any money we might make on a gig. We’d like to rehearse once a week until a whole set is ready and then maybe once month to tweak arrangements and add new songs. We would rehearse at Complete Music in Prospect Heights Brooklyn or Rivington Studios in the L.E.S. We are fully vaxx’ed. We expect to play one NYC gig a month, but until the clubs open back up, maybe play in Fort Greene Park or Prospect Park on a weekend? If interested, please respond and include links to your playing. Thanks!
