Description
Mariposa’s First Wednesday Diversity Dialogue will be presenting, “Gender Identity: One Transwoman's Perspective with Arica King.” Mariposa at the Althea Center: Embracing Wholeness Diversity Dialogue for June 2nd will be an in-person program titled, “Gender Identity: One Transwoman's Perspective with Arica King.” Welcome: 6:00 - 6:30 pm MDT Program: 6:30 - 8:00 pm MDT In our first in-person Diversity Dialogue program since March of last year, we will take a look at gender identity from the personal perspective of Rev. Arica King. There is still much to learn from transgender persons in regard to the unique “personal journey of authenticity” that each of us is living. Rev. Arica King Arica was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. She has been in Colorado since 1974, except for 2004–2008, when she returned to Florida to care for her dying mom and to complete her MS in Counseling Psychology (2007). In Colorado, Arica has lived and/or worked in Boulder, Denver Metro, Ft. Collins, and Longmont. Arica’s Denver-based counseling practice actually started as her internship in 2006. Last year, she chose the name Awakening Souls LLC for her practice, which was previously known as Heart-Centered Counseling and Healing Center. Arica practices Spiritual Psychology with her clients, for deep healing of core issues—because she has found Spiritual Psychology's tools to be much more impactful and helpful for real change than what is taught in traditional therapy. Arica is also an Advanced Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCHT). Arica has finished writing her first book, How to Change: Finding and Moving into L.O.V.E. (Living One's Vital Essence), which is to be published by the Balboa Division of Hay House Publishing later this year. For a video introduction of Arica, check out Althea’s YouTube channel to see her participation in the Althea Center’s May 9 Sunday Gathering, a Mother’s Day panel on “The Divine Feminine.”
