Cardiovascular Institute of the South Lafayette (Ambassador) to host Women's Cardiac Wellness Screenings every Thursday in May. Join Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Lafayette for one of our Women's Cardiac Wellness Screenings ! CIS will be providing FREE electrocardiogram (EKG), carotid ultrasound & blood pressure screenings every Thursday in May from 1:30-4:30 p.m.An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An EKG is recommended for those with risk factors of heart disease, or those who experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat or heavy heartbeats. Ultrasounds will be offered to test for carotid artery disease. A carotid ultrasound uses ultrasound waves to locate blockages that may be present— ultimately determining risk for cardiovascular disease. Screening results will be reviewed onsite by Naomie LaFleur, NP. This event will include refreshments, giveaways, and more! Please allow around 30 minutes to complete all screenings. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
