Description
Im getting lots of interest! Thanks everyone for reaching out! If you’ve seen this ad and you’re on the fence go ahead and hit me up, rehearsals are starting next week and I’ve got some great prospective members. I’m really getting excited to make some noise, anyway, here’s the ad:
I’ve wanted to form this type of sweaty 60’s/70’s heavy groove Latin/Afro-soul/Cuban/Ethiopian type jazz band for a long time..... and coming out of the pandemic I think the time is now........
The band is:
Guitar
Bass
Keys (Rhoads or organ)
Drums
Percussionist (shakers, blocks, bongos, etc)
And:
Trumpet
Baritone and alto sax
Flute
Trombone?
I play guitar. I’ve got an alto sax and flute player, I have a couple drummers, bass players and keys I can call but since this is a new venture I’d like to see who’s out there.
Really mostly looking for a trumpet, baritone sax, and percussionist. And if you play one of the other instruments and want to talk about playing in a band like this drop me a line.
The band would have a weekly practice schedule (probably Thursday nights unless that doesn’t work for someone). To start we will work on these cover songs. Eventually writing and recording would be the plan, and as the world opens up we could start playing out.
Age doesn’t matter to me (I’m 39) and I’m not looking for Beethoven level prowess, just know your instrument and your parts and be ambitious and willing to work. If you like to laugh, practice and build the toughest sounding heavy soul songs this side of the Mississippi then hit me up!
There’s so many songs but here’s a Spotify playlist of some tunes to start,
