ILLINOIS — Free Six Flags Great America tickets will be doled out to Illinois residents who receive their vaccine in the coming weeks, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Thursday. During the first week of June, the amusement park will host a state vaccination clinic where thousands of free tickets will be handed out, the governor said. Six Flags will also donate thousands of tickets to health departments across the state to be used at their discretion to encourage local residents to get their shots. "There are so many people that are on the fence just a little bit, and I think this will push them a bit," Pritzker said. Six Flag officials say they're donating 50,000 tickets, valued at $4 million, and they are hopeful, in particular, that young people will be incentivized to get their vaccine. The announcement comes the same week that Pfizer shots received approval to be given to those as young as 12 years old. This is a developing story. Check back with Patch.
