Description

Wishing a bright Spring to all! I'm a youth gardening coordinator at a local organization that teaches preschool and grade school aged students about growing food, nutrition, and the knowledge to foster a healthy life in general. Beginning in June, we will be starting weekly classes, and must secure a few crucial tools/equipment by that time, if not sooner. The sooner the better!!! In order or importance: - Water storage unit, preferably -2-, ideally holding around 500 gallons (aka "Water Buffalo"). We are also distinctly interested in rainwater harvesting/storage barrels and other similar equipment. Nothing that has held chemicals or gas, please. Willing to pay a fair price for something in good condition! - Roto-tiller, with heavy duty tines for breaking up some severely compacted soil along a roadway. A walk behind model is needed, as we don't have a tractor, but something larger/heavier designed for farm use would be advantageous. We are willing to rent something of this nature if necessary, unless a suitable tool could be purchased outright in the neighborhood of $75-$120 -A couple good metal wheelbarrow (nothing sketchy, please, our volunteers are either very young or somewhat elderly, so must avoid potentially dangerous equipment) And also, but of less importance: - 5-10 yards of woodchips, or a coarse, untreated/undyed mulch. This would be a bonus, and we're not trying to spend much on this item. -Any decent, untreated lumber for constructing raised gardening beds would be very much welcome too (2"x4"s, 2"x8"s in particular) lightly damaged is ok, just not rotting! -Picnic tables or other rustic wooden garden furniture in good shape - an arbor (think an arched trellis, ideal for growing grapes or roses. We would rather find items in good condition than negotiate a bunch on poorer quality or broken items! Though any donations of gardening tools and good will to mankind will be welcomed with fresh produce when that time comes. We'd love to find a partner who could provide some of the items I've mentioned on an ongoing basis. A person close in Uniontown (or within 5-10 miles) and with a community centered mindset is who we're looking for! Ask how you can get involved with the project if this is you :D
