POSITION SUMMARY:The Designer assists the Operations team and Engineering team in the production of Residential solar, Residential battery, and Commercial solar designs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:General: Interpret site survey information for PV system designCreate AutoCAD or comparable drawings for proposed solar systemsAssist in creating roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar projects, and battery projects, based on preliminary site survey sketches and informationWork in conjunction with Design Manager, Project Manager, Operations Manager, Sales, and Installation teams to coordinate scheduling and permitting for system installationPromptly and accurately complete all required forms and reports as requested by Designer Manager and other Operations team membersCreate project plans to include accurate PV array layouts as well as structural and attachment details Quickly and efficiently handle corrections as requested by building and electrical officials in order to get project plans approved for building and electrical permitsMay assist in conducting site surveys as needed QUALIFICATIONS: [Education, Training, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expected Behaviors]Required: Minimum of 2 years solar design experiencePrevious experience with Solar DesignExperience with solar design software, preferably Helioscope Familiarity with construction documents and plans to ensure completion and filing of project documents are correctMust be able to handle several tasks at a time as well as understand and work within the time and financial constraints of the construction industryAble to communicate effectively with employees of all levels within and outside of the Organization.Must be a strong team player and work within a team as well as independentlyWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Demonstrates highly-ethical behavior and good judgment at all times, including the ability to maintain the utmost confidentialityEffective listening, verbal, and written communications skillsGood problem-solving skillsEffective time / project management skillsFlexible with the ability to successfully manage ever-changing priorities as necessaryWillingly takes on additional assignments as requestedDemonstrated ability to professionally respond to stressful situations in a patient, friendly, and timely mannerLeads by example always portraying the Company in a highly-professional manner both within and outside of the officeDesire to participate and act as a true team playerEnsures accurate, timely completion of assigned responsibilities/projectsRespectfully accepts coaching and guidance provided constructively in order to continually improve, grow, absorb, and adaptUnderstands office gossip is frowned upon by leadership and refrains in participating in suchPC Proficient with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including: Word, Excel, and Outlook, database creation and report generationLegal eligibility to work in the United StatesAbility to successfully pass a background investigation and drug screenValid California Driver’s License and proof if insurance is required Desired:Experience with PVSystExperience with Energy Toolbase2 years of experience in the construction industryElectrical design OR, Any combination of academic education and professional training and development, along with applied work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
