Flat is a subscription-based home maintenance service that helps busy homeowners proactively care for their homes to catch and mitigate issues before they become costly repairs. Think of it like getting a car tune-up or a physical, only this one is for your house. Flat is currently seeking Home Pros who will be the primary interface with our customers. This role will meet with homeowners in their homes and use their technical expertise to assess the maintenance needs for each home. The role can be for only certain cities or the entire Chicagoland, based on the applicant's request. Core Job Responsibilities: - Effectively communicate with customers. - Assess the maintenance needs to a wide variety of single-family homes relating to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, appliances, building systems, and carpentry. - Perform proactive maintenance, including but not limited to changing smoke detector batteries and HVAC filters to cleaning dryer vents. - Catalog a variety of building systems and appliances and electronically submit photos and property data via smartphone or tablet. The Perks: - Competitive Pay: Flat pays $20/hr and up. - Flexible Schedule: You can choose when you want to work based on your schedule (Monday - Sunday). - Fast Payments: Payments are issued to your bank daily. - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Basic understanding and hands-on familiarity with a wide range of residential plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. - Excellent interpersonal communication skills. - Fluency in the professional use of written and verbal English. - Comfortable using electronic devices. - Must own a reliable vehicle and have a valid driver’s license. - Must be able to pass a background check. - Must be able to work in an indoor/outdoor environment where seasonal temperature changes can range from freezing to extreme heat. - Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. - Must be able to climb ladders and crawl into confined spaces. - Must be able to endure walking, squatting, bending, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crawling and prolonged standing.
