Description
Rehoming black miniature senior poodle
Black mini poodle, about 12 pounds. Vet thinks she is 8 years old? Got her from the shelter in January 2020 on her last day, they were aiming to put her down because she had terrible teeth and no one wanted a senior dog.
The good:
super, super friendly, rubs her head on you and wants to snuggle.
She's a poodle! Doesn't shed!
Healthy (per the vet)
Fixed!
Already had all her dental done, which was a fortune (8 teeth pulled!)
Just had her rabies and other vaccines
Not a super yapping barking dog--- generally quiet
House trained but...
The bad:
Will not use the pet door. Whimpers at it. So you have to open the door to let her in and out.
Squeals when she's afraid, like if a shadow crosses her path, or if you step too close to her, or turn too fast... and sometimes squeals at her food too---
Doesn't seem to know she's a 12 pound dog and goes straight up to huge dogs to say hello
Wants her dry food served out of the bowl on the carpet. I don't know why. We have a small mat for her.
Why I'm rehoming her: I work a lot and need my dogs to be able to use the pet door when I'm not home. I'm always having to run home to let her out. Also, my older poodle is getting increasingly aggressive toward her--- doesn't let her on the sofa, chases her off when she comes near me--- Poor thing just needs some peace.
She would make an excellent companion for an older person who wants a calm, non-shedding breed and who is home most of the day.
