A spring ‘Bird Walk' at Distant Hill Gardens and Nature Trail on Saturday, May 22nd from 8-10 AM
BIRD WALK AT DISTANT HILLYou are invited to a spring ‘Bird Walk' at Distant Hill Gardens and Nature Trail on Saturday, May 22nd from 8-10am. Expert birders Wendy Ward and Steven Lamonde will lead a bird walk through the forests, fields, and wetlands of Distant Hill. We will be looking for interesting species, as well as learning to identify the birds by their songs and calls.
Spring is the best time of year to look for birds! Just a few days ago a Magnolia warbler (photo above), an American Redstart, a Chestnut-sided warbler, an Eastern Towhee, and a Great Blue Heron were spotted on the cranberry bog at Distant Hill.
And in just the first five minutes of the 2016 spring bird walk participants saw an Indigo Bunting, Scarlet Tanager, male and female Bluebirds, a Black-billed Cuckoo, and a Baltimore Oriole (photo below). Hopefully this year's walk will be as productive!
Registration is requested but not necessary, and Children are Welcome!
And don't worry if you are new to birding and don't have binoculars. We have extra pairs you can borrow!
Suggested Donation $10/adult
