Galatians in Three Dimensions
Galatians is normally assumed to be about “how people get saved.” There is truth in that assumption, but this letter is also about two other important things. First, Paul addresses how justification by faith forms Jesus' followers into a single family with no ethnically-based division. Second, Paul explains how to cope with the fact that this new family is bound to appear disruptive in its surrounding culture. Holding all this together is vital for understanding Paul's meaning for the first-century Galatians and how it applies to us today.
