Description
PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The New York State Route 25A resurfacing project in the Setauket and Port Jefferson area is due to begin in late summer or early fall, state Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-Setauket) announced Wednesday.
The roadwork, which will see the repaving of Route 25A from Nicolls Road to East Broadway (Main Street) in Port Jefferson, is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year. The New York State Department of Transport (DOT) agreed to advance the timetable on the project following Englebright's request.
Workers recently began replacing sidewalk ramps and installing drainage improvements. When that is done, pavement mill and fill work will begin. The project will restore the pavement riding surface by removing the existing asphalt overlay, repairing any damage to the underlying base and resurfacing it with new asphalt.
The project is due to be complete in the late fall as long as the weather permits. Meanwhile, the contractor is required to fill any open potholes that may arise. To report potholes, people can call the DOT Regional Maintenance office at 1-800-POTHOLE, call Englebright's office at 631-751-3094 or email [email protected].
