LEXINGTON, MA — Three Lexington High School seniors earned a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The NMSC judges high school students based on their PSATs, and awards a number of scholarships in their senior year.
Emily Huang, Jennifer Li, and Raghav Ramanujam at Lexington High School were awarded. Huang plans to go into health care, Li wants to study medicine, and Ramanujam plans to study computer programming.
The NMSC announced corporate scholarship winners in April. Thomas Ahn and Joy Gong from Lexington received funding from Pfizer Inc. and Putnam Investments, respectively.
Winners of the college-sponsored scholarships will be announced on June 2 and July 12.
"National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are the Finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies," the announcement says. "The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state's percentage of the nation's graduating high school seniors."
