NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A man with a gun brought some unwanted attention to himself when he threw the weapon on the ground and ran away, according to two Westchester County probation officers who found themselves suddenly in the position of having to arrest a suspect on the streets of New Rochelle on Tuesday morning.
By the time New Rochelle police arrived at the scene to provide backup, just before 10:30 a.m., the probation officers had already taken the man into custody.
While on an undisclosed investigation, the probation officers encountered the man walking near 420 North Ave. When he unexpectedly threw a gun onto the ground and fled, police say a brief foot chase ensued before Tyrell Yves Fraser was eventually taken into custody.
