Press release from the Lindenhurst School District: May 12, 2021 First grade students at Albany Avenue Elementary School in the Lindenhurst UnionFree School District recently took part in a virtual program on "Building Structures" offeredby the Long Island Children's Museum. After a virtual discussion with the museum's outreach manager Jennifer Henriquezin which students explored the various elements needed to successfully build a structure,including the use of good materials and a strong foundation, they used prepared materialssuch as packing peanuts and toothpicks to create their own freestanding structures. The program aligns with the "Building Structures" reading theme in the schools Wonders Reading program and allowed students to develop their reading skills and utilize their creativity in the classroom.
