ARLINGTON, MA — A Cambridge teen was arrested after leading officers on a brief chase in Arlington Tuesday, police said. The 17-year-old drove through a crosswalk as a woman and child were attempting to cross and fled after officers tried to pull him over, police said. The incident happened around 2 p.m. at Mass. Ave. and Pleasant Street. The teen stopped when he turned onto Swan Place and reached a dead end, police said. Officers searched the vehicle, a Ford Escape, and found a gun loaded with a high capacity magazine under the driver's seat, as well as a bag of marijuana and a digital scale, police said. The SUV belonged to a car-sharing company. Police charged the driver with possession of a large capacity firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. He was held overnight and arraigned Wednesday morning.
