WESTPORT, CT — A man who died after exiting a Metro-North train as it was traveling between Westport and East Norwalk on Thursday has been identified, according to a Metropolitan Transportation Authority police spokesperson. Aaron Donovan, deputy communications director of the MTA, said Monday the man has been identified as Dontay J. Taylor, 45, of Stamford. He also noted there were no further updates at this time. Donovan previously said in a news release the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The train was carrying 150 passengers at the time and was scheduled to depart from New Haven at 10:38 a.m. and arrive at Grand Central Terminal in New York City at 12:50 p.m., Donovan said. The train's passengers were later transferred to another train. Around 12:30 p.m. that day, the railroad announced the New Haven line's trains would not be stopping at Green's Farms, Westport and East Norwalk stations due to police activity near East Norwalk. Norwalk Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino said Thursday the MTA initially believed an incident had occurred near East Norwalk and requested assistance from Norwalk police. "We responded and found this not to be the case," Gulino said Thursday in an email. "As such, the proper authorities are investigating." Westport Police Lt. David Wolf confirmed Thursday afternoon an incident was being investigated in town by MTA police and Westport police were providing assistance. Wolf did not specify what the incident was at the time, but emphasized there were no public safety issues.
