Description
GARDEN CITY, NY — This year, Garden City residents will be voting in-person for the 2021-22 school district budget on May 18.
The coronavirus was not an acceptable reason to request an absentee ballot for this year's election, so the majority of the voting will be done in person. The vote will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the gym of Garden City High School, located at 170 Rockaway Ave.
The district's proposed spending plan for the 2021-22 school year is $122,381,487, which is an increase of 1.21 percent, or $1,468,346 over the current budget.
To fund the increase, the district proposes a tax levy of $105,425,384, up 0.84 percent from the current year's, which the district says is the maximum allowable under the tax cap.
