Press release from the Alpha Community Services YMCA: May 12, 2021 On Saturday, May 22, 2021, the 20th Annual Walk to End Homelessness sponsored by the Alpha Community Services YMCA, a Branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, will be held at Captain's Cove Seaport in Bridgeport. Chronic homelessness is a challenge faced by many families and adults, particularly in Bridgeport and New Haven. With a large team of social workers and an inventory of apartments, the Y continues to serve as the largest provider of affordable and supportive housing in the state. Bridgeport relies on Alpha Community Services YMCA to provide a sense of community, hope and a safe place to belong. While our in-person event will feature physically distanced activities and be in accordance with CDC, State and Local Health Department recommendations, the Y aims to provide an inspirational and motivating morning to help raise awareness and donations so that everyone in the community can help Alpha Community Services YMCA end homelessness. All donations collected will directly benefit the programs of the Alpha Community Services YMCA including the Families in Transition Shelter, Bridgeport's only Family Emergency Shelter. Contributions are 100% tax deductible.
