AUSTIN, TX — IDEA Public Schools will host virtual College Signing Day events to honor the Class of 2021 this week, officials said. The virtual event will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and students, staff, family and other members of the community will be able to view College Signing Day online. College Signing Day is the culmination of years of hard work and marks a momentous occasion in each IDEA scholar's academic journey, school officials said Wednesday. One hundred percent of seniors at IDEA Public Schools have been accepted to college, authorities said. "College Signing Day is one of our most treasured traditions and marks a momentous occasion in each student's academic journey," says JoAnn Gama, Co-founder and CEO of IDEA Public Schools. "We are proud to celebrate our students' long-standing commitment to receiving a postsecondary education throughout the coming weeks as each scholar, one by one, reveals where they will attend college this fall." The achievements from IDEA Montopolis' Class of 2021 includes: 83 seniors on track to attend college 773 applications submitted 507 acceptances 76 acceptances to selective and highly selective colleges $3.5M in grants and scholarships99% of graduates are the first in their family to attend college Students from this year's graduating class have been accepted to New York University, American University, University of Chicago, Trinity University, St. Edwards University, Swarthmore College, the University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, and more, officials said. In U.S. News & World Report's 2021 ranking of best high schools in the nation released last month, IDEA Montopolis College Preparatory ranked as one of the top three Austin metro area high schools and as one of the top 50 Texas high schools.
