Wheaton Police Announce 'Stuff The Squad' Event May 26

Press release from the City of Wheaton: The Wheaton Police Department encourages the community to help neighbors in need with the launch of a new event called Stuff the Squad. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, Wheaton Police encourage the community to visit the Wheaton Police Department at 900 W. Liberty Drive and help stuff a squad car full of food donations and other items needed by the People's Resource Center for distribution to anyone in need. Contactless donations can be placed directly into the squad, and all CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. "The Wheaton Police Department knows that this has been an especially difficult year, and many people are struggling to meet their basic needs due to job loss or other challenging circumstances," said Community Engagement Officer Crystal Miroballi. "The safety and well-being of our community is incredibly important to our department. We thought this event is one way we can help take care of our community, and we welcome you to join us in this effort. Wheaton is a generous and caring community. We are hoping those in a position to give can help us aid those in need." The types of items most needed for neighbors in need of assistance include: Canned goods: Green beans, corn, soup, pork and beans, black beans, spaghetti sauce Personal Care items: Shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant Household Cleaning: Spray disinfectants like Clorox, laundry detergents Diapers:  Child size 6 or 7 Adults sizes The People's Resource Center provides nutritious food, clothing and basic necessities to anyone in need of assistance, as well as connecting individuals with resources such as education, tutoring and more.
