TINLEY PARK, IL — The Tinley Park Bulldogs football team won their very first Super Bowl in the River Valley conference on May 2 against the Orland Park Pioneers.
The score of the game was 16-24. The season was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic, but 10 teams played against each other in the River Valley conference, with the varsity Bulldogs team— often referred to as the "underdogs" this season — taking home their very first Super Bowl win in the conference.
Head Coach Eric J. Tanquilut said he couldn't be more proud of the team for taking home the win. Tanquilut coached four different Super Bowl wins over his years as a coach for various football teams, but he said this Bulldogs win was one he will never forget.
"This is probably the most special because this team really truly was about team, there was no one player that stood out ever. They really worked hard together and fought hard together, and that was really the biggest reason for their success," Tanquilut said.
The coach went on to say that this win was "definitely a defining moment for them." Below you can see a Facebook Live video from the Bulldogs Facebook page when the team won the Super Bowl on May 2.
The Bulldogs will begin training for the next season this summer, according to Tanquilut. The coach is hopeful the team will continue to succeed and bring home another Super Bowl win this upcoming season.
Congrats to the Tinley Park Bulldogs, from Tinley Park Patch!
