Description

Press release from the Wright County Government: May 11, 2021 A Message from the Wright County Sheriff's Office 'In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week. This year, National Police Week is May 9-15 with Saturday being Peace Officers Memorial Day. While the dates change from year to year, National Police Week is always the calendar week beginning on Sunday, which includes May 15. During this week we believe it is important to remember those peace officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the course of their duties. On May 15 each year flags are to be lowered to half-staff to honor our fallen law enforcement officers. This is also a time to honor and remember all of those who currently and previously wore the badge. We would like to thank all of our Wright County Sheriff's Office deputies as well as the police officers who serve within the county (Buffalo, Howard Lake and Annandale Police Departments) for their service.'
