INGLEWOOD, CA — For the first time, fans will get to watch a regular-season NFL game from the stands at SoFi Stadium Sept. 12 for the Rams season opener against the Chicago Bear, the team announced Wednesday. The game will air on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
The NFL announced the league's Week 1 schedule Wednesday with the full release of thel 2021 slate of games at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Crosstown rivals, the L.A. Chargers will open the season on the road on Sept. 12, squaring off against the Washington Football Team at 10 a.m. PT.
The pandemic cast a pall over the inaugural season at SoFi Stadium, but with the outbreak in check, fans will get to enjoy the league's newest stadium in the coming season. The Rams and Chargers both played the 2020 season at the new stadium in Inglewood, but they played before 70,000-plus empty seats.
The Rams-Bears matchup will kick off at 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 12.
This will be the second straight season the Rams will open their season at home on Sunday Night Football. Last season, they opened SoFi Stadium with a 20-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Last season, the Rams also beat the Bears 24-10 in a Week 7 Monday Night Football matchup on their way to a 10-6 record.
The Chargers finished the 2020 season with a 7-9 record.
