Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway is seeking a part time bridge operator for its bridge over the Maumee River at Toledo. This position works several days per month and requires working various hours, various days of the week. The daily rate for this position is $150.00. Some days require working only a few hours, other days can require working up to twelve hours. This position involves operating a small boat on the Maumee River to the base of the bridge, docking the boat, climbing a ladder to the base of the bridge, and then climbing many stairs to the control tower. The operator moves the bridge using switches and levers. This position performs occasional maintenance work. Significant time can be spent waiting on boat and train traffic. Wheeling & Lake Erie is a drug-free employer. This position requires pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
