Veterinary Referral Associates is looking for a full time, Facilities Assistant to work Monday - Friday in our busy veterinary referral and 24-hour emergency hospital in Gaithersburg, MD. A Facilities Assistant will work under the direction of the Facilities Manager, Inventory and Purchasing Manager, and Hospital Director to help oversee building and grounds maintenance and repair; schedule maintenance repair work; maintain ongoing communication with contractors, team, and management; manage the upkeep of equipment/supplies; and coordinate installations and repairs of hospital property. Local travel for supplies and equipment will be required (<10%). Occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays will be required (<5%). Education and Experience: Candidate MUST have at least 2 years of experience working in facilities management or similar position. Candidate must have high school diploma or equivalent. Ideal Candidate’s Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have reliable transportation Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems Excellent communication and client service skills Must be well-organized and apt in problem-solving Ability to take initiative and follow direction Ability to work independently and in a team oriented environment Be friendly, outgoing and people-oriented Must have sound decision making skills and be able to multi-task while working in an environment of stress Must be comfortable working around animals Our 30,000 sq. ft. facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment including a 16 slice CT, MRI, Endoscopy, Multiple Mechanical Ventilators, two Digital Radiology suites, both Flat-bed and C-Arm Fluoroscopy, a Linear Accelerator, an Operating Microscope and Nuclear Scintigraphy. We have specialists in Anesthesiology, Acupuncture, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, as well as Medical and Radiation Oncology. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in healthcare facilities management, though we are willing to train the right person if they are highly motivated.
