Job Description Our company is looking to fill two spots in our repair/service department. We service and repair various laboratory equipment. Equipment specific training is provided on the job, you do not need to be familiar with laboratory equipment. We find good mechanical aptitude, electronics knowledge and a similar experience in other fields are often sufficient. Qualifications: Candidates should exhibit good mechanical aptitude, electronics knowledge, attention to detail, be able to utilize computers and technology efficiently, be organized, along with confidence and humility to learn new things. As the main step in our pre-screening of new technicians, we may ask candidates to complete a Mechanical Aptitude and/or Electronics Knowledge Test. Other fields our team members transitioned from: Our current employees come from a variety of related fields such as Electronics technicians Automotive technicians Large industrial machine support and repair personnel Plant support engineers CNC machinists Music instrument repairman IT professionals Technical Ex-military personnel Home hobbyists/tinkerers who feel confident to take on repairs they are unfamiliar with and complete them successfully. Equipment you will work on: Microscopes and Imaging Systems, Automated robots, Incubators/Chambers, Centrifuges, Spectrometers, Evaporators, Cytometers, Chromatography Instruments, etc. If these instruments sound unfamiliar, they only seem complex until you look inside – training for specific instruments will be provided on the job. We do not expect you to be familiar with laboratory equipment. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Conducting repair and diagnostics of various laboratory instruments Researching and properly documenting the repair process, equipment, and its software configurations, Completing the necessary data entry. Getting in touch with the equipment manufacturers and vendors by phone or email to obtain needed information to facilitate the repair process or to procure correct replacement components Configure equipment’s software Desired experience and skills: Ability to use tools such as a multimeter (oscilloscope experience is a plus) Understanding and applying mechanical concepts and processes Understanding of basic electrical theory Proficiency in reading technical drawings, circuit and wiring diagrams. Soldering and rewiring Requirements for all candidates Ability to apply creativity, logic and critical thinking skills in handling of the multiple-step repair process Ability to read and understand technical service manuals Keeping organized workspace Able to lift 40+ pounds Intermediate Computer skills Work hours: Full time 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday Single location in Walpole, MA. No travel to customer sites is required.
