Campers are assigned an individual horse for the week that they both ride and care for. Campers ride twice per day (once per day for half day sessions), with one ride as a formal lesson, and the second consisting of fun rides including mounted games, practice riding time, and bareback riding. Outside the riding time, campers learn about horse health, equipment maintenance, horse colors/breeds, braiding/clipping, and much, much more! During the warmest times of the day, campers work on crafts in our air conditioned activity room, such as painting horseshoes and putting together a scrapbook of their activities (with photographs!) to take home at the end of the week. Afternoon activities include a muddy horse grooming contest, painting a real horse, and bathing their camp horses. On the final day of camp, campers compile what they have learned through the week in a Friends and Family Horse Show.
No riding experience necessary - beginners welcome! Ages 7-16 (special sessions for 5-6 year olds). Campers may bring their own horses to camp (limited to a few campers per week - inquire for details).
BACK FOR 2021 - RIDE & EXCURSION CAMPS!
During the week campers will enjoy riding each day, plus a fun-filled week of offsite excursions! Campers will ride in a combination of lessons and fun rides while at the farm, then venture offsite for trips to veterinary hospitals, racehorse auctions, equine rehabilitation facilities, feed stores, show horse facilities, horse trailer manufacturers, and more! Each session will include a trip to the Florida Greenway for a trail ride. Excursion agenda for each session will be available by request. Each session will include different excursions through the week and we encourage campers to signup for both sessions if they can.
