Part-time Gardening Assistant

I own a small landscape maintenance & design company working in residential gardens. I am looking for a part-time gardening assistant to work between 10 - 15 hours a week. The starting pay is $16 per hour. The primary tasks are: hand-weeding, pruning, mowing, mulching beds and general garden care. We use integrated pest management and use the least chemical and petroleum products as we can. We mow with push mowers and use electric or rechargeable power tools whenever possible. You must be able to lift 50 lbs. comfortably and drive your own vehicle to work sites. We will also be doing computer and administrative work through shared Google docs, so access to a computer is also necessary. The top characteristics that I'm looking for in a candidate are reliability, hard work ethic and an openness to learning. I'm open to working around a school schedule but we don't work on the weekends. My ideal candidate is someone who has interest and / or previous experience doing gardening work, someone who enjoys being outside and getting their hands dirty, someone who has reliable transportation and can easily commit to a schedule, someone who has additional income and can adjust for the peak seasons (spring and fall) and in the off-season. This can be a great fit for an artist, a stay-at-home parent with school age children, a barista or service industry person, a college student with an interest in plants, landscaping or gardening.
