Seeking Worship Musician/Singer

Meets

Portland OR

Description

I lead worship out at Woodland Park (not so) Baptist Church. I'm doing a lot of the modern stuff as well as some standards. I work with another musician/singer and we harmonize well together. We're a little older so we're looking for some seasoned player/singers with musical competency and experience. What I'd like to find is keyboard/pad player, another drummer s(o our current one doesn't have to be on every week), another acoustic player, and a bass player. Yeah, it's alot of people but I'm casting a wide net here. I'm also interested in a stand out vocalist but this situation is not going to thrill you at first because things are still pretty dead here because of COVID. On the other hand, I'm an engineer/producer and know my way around real live sound. I don't go for in-ear-monitor and I'm really into a tight band sound. This will not be like Hillsong or those military operations with someone talking in your ear or your musical soul being pummeled by the ever present click track. It's a real organic band like I used to play in in clubs (both cover and original). OK, now for the nitty gritty. Your life has to be in order. You can't be living like a heathen in any way. We're very forgiving and tolerant here if you're just sitting in the pews but the moment you get up on the platform, there's a whole 'nother standard. Makes sense right? Also, you need to be able to attend at least one practice a week. Look, I'm a pro and I actually live by this saying-- "Players don't practice, they play." This means we'll explore the songs and that takes some time to find our strengths as an ensemble. Also, one of the players is a good writer and we'll be working out a couple of original songs. I've been a professional engineer and I've heard a lot of crap demos and tunes in my day and these aren't that. Frank is a mid level writer somewhere between Fernando Ortega and Matt Redman in skill and talent. The point is that this is actually a worship band. Our job is to escort the congregation to the throne so that we can worship God in songs of aduration and praise. I also have a radical philosophy on how to run worship teams that you will not find in any other church. If this is right for you, it will be really right.
