Rigorous instruction to build comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency while engaging students at high depth-of-knowledge levels with take-and-teach lesson plans. Math Curriculum: “Math Expressions” Build deep understanding with this essential inquiry-based mathematics curriculum. Mastering math starts with knowing the numbers. We get students started on the right path in Pre-K, looking beyond numbers to understand how and why they work, and learning to ask the questions that lead to a thoughtful, informed approach to solving problems. Based on research funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Math Expressions is a proven Pre-K curriculum that helps children make sense of math by exploring, discussing, and demonstrating their understanding of key concepts. In busy, active lessons, students learn how to look deeper and choose their own path to the answers—skills that will take them far beyond the math classroom. As a young student, she desired an education that kept up with her academic developments. She later attended college at Northern Arizona University in 2012 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and has since earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential for Grades K- 12 in multiple states. Within her 10 years of professional teaching experience, she has been honored with several awards for her lesson planning and teaching abilities, including the 1st place prize for the creation and implementation of a month-long unit on the Southwest Native Americans in the 2013 Imagine Arizona contest. She also received the 2014 SEDI Teacher Award for Sustainability Curriculum (TASC). Kristie values a global perspective so highly that she took a break from teaching for a few years to follow her dream of traveling around the world and gaining a global perspective through international experiences. She has now ventured independently to 80 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and South America. During this remarkable and challenging experience, she cultivated excellent interpersonal skills in communication, leadership, and cross-cultural understanding. With numerous certifications, years of teaching experience in and out of the classroom, and a passion for education and service in the community, Kristie now owns and operates her own business to tailor education to her students’ needs. Kristie strongly desires to be part of a larger goal as significant as shaping and educating others to be successful global citizens that can make a difference in our world. She is passionate about the academic and social/emotional education of children and hopes to help students to build the strength of character that will allow them to excel in their academics, personal relationships, and future careers. As a transitional kindergarten program director and teacher, she hopes to embody and encourage the qualities of a balanced, intelligent world citizen: intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, passion for learning, ethical responsibility, self-reliance, community engagement, and global competence.
