Description
I'm looking to start or join a band, with the intention of recording some stuff and playing live shows at least locally once we are out of the plague age. I live in Monmouth, but have a car and can get to practice wherever we put it. We could even use my garage if that's the best option.
I'm 31, you can be any age as long as we get along personally and creatively. I play mostly bass, and I dabble clumsily with guitar and mandolin. I have gear that is decent enough for now, but I would be willing to upgrade again if the project gets some momentum.
My personal music taste is rather broad. The styles I'm most interested in playing would be:
Something heavy and dark with punk and metal influences, in the vein of Trap Them, Neurosis, Sumac, Loma Prieta, Mastodon, Converge, Every Time I Die, Xibalba, KEN Mode, etc.
OR
Something more melodic and accessible, but still with a punk undertone like Iron Chic, Hot Water Music, Coliseum, Gaslight Anthem, Foxing, Lawrence Arms, Pup, Against Me, The Menzingers, Drug Church, etc.
OR
Something else entirely, as long as it isn't lame and the people aren't assholes. We can do Warren Zevon covers, jazzy hip hop tracks, Hildegard von Bingen chants over black metal riffs, whatever.
Final disclaimers: I like to drink beer and smoke a little weed, but I'm not interested in playing with folks who dig harder drugs. Never seems to go well.
I also do not have any interest in playing with people who are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or any of that horrendous bullshit. Those assholes don't make good art and they're no fun to hang out with.
