This event is to raise awareness and support for mental health, during May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month. This event is being held to raise awareness and financial support for organizations that are assisting citizens that suffer with mental illness including: The Spindletop Center for Healthy Living and The Lamar Institute of Technology - Regional Police Academy. Other supporters of this MHA 5K are The CRCD Group and Bethel Temple of Praise Deliverance Center, Inc. These organizations advocate for laws to benefit the citizens that suffer with mental illness, offer free counseling, give training for police to appropriately approach citizens with mental illness and are in a crisis. This MHA 5K is will be a chance to show your support and contribute to citizens who deserve equality.
