JOB DURATION This seasonal position is anticipated to last from late July 2021 to December 2021, depending on business needs. Incumbents will work full-time (40 hours per week) including weekends (two consecutive days off will fall during the weekdays). JOB PURPOSE: Greet the public at the Rocky Reach Discovery Center, provide dynamic tours and assist with education presentations to visitors. Perform light janitorial duties as needed. JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. Essential functions are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position. # EF % of Time Job Functions 1. EF 60% Greet visitors. Provide information and directions. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the facility and related topics, i.e., fish bypass, history of Rocky Reach Dam, alternative energy sources, etc. Conduct programs by greeting groups and individuals and leading tours of the generation floor and programs at the Discovery Center. 2. EF 35% Provide classroom assistance to the education specialist conducting programs and activities for students, adults, and families both onsite and offsite. 3. EF 5% Assist with light janitorial duties, such as vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning. Assist with set-up in classroom and conference room. 4. EF Ongoing Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District. QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of those required, but reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Post-Secondary Education: No post-secondary education required. Courses in communications, marketing, public relations or related field or experience dealing effectively with the public are preferred. Experience: Requires one (1) year of customer service experience working directly with the general public, as a tour guide, or public speaking experience. Knowledge of District history and the Rocky Reach project is preferred. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. Other: A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment. Also requires CPR Certification and valid First Aid card within 30 days of hire. COMPENSATION: The Contract Rate for this position is $17.33 per hour (which may be determined by previous employment), plus an additional $.50 per hour in lieu of employee benefits. Additionally, and in accordance with the Washington State Paid Sick Leave Law, you will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours actually worked.
