Description

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — The North Andover Select Board approved Monday the town's "Complete Streets" policy, which if approved by the state will make the town eligible for infrastructure funding. The state program, which began in 2016, provides planning grants up to $50,000 and construction grants up to $400,000 for work to build streets that "accommodate all modes, abilities and ages." The Board approved the policy Monday. It needs Department of Transportation approval before the town can win grants. Around two-thirds of Massachusetts municipalities have approved policies, according to a presentation to the board. Possibilities for Complete Streets work include sidewalk expansion, new crosswalks, parklets and trees, bike and pedestrian connections between neighborhoods and more. The full policy and the presentation are available here. The full meeting is here, via North Andover CAM. Christopher Huffaker can be reached at 412-265-8353 or [email protected].
