Description

MERRICK, NY — It's been a difficult time for many throughout the past year. The Levy Lakeside School gave back to the community by providing comfort to families with children who have life-threatening injuries, the district announced in a news release. The student council, comprised of fourth, fifth and sixth graders, annually hosts a dance-a-thon to raise money for specific charities. While that wasn't possible due to the pandemic, the school group donated $200 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital cares for children battling serious illness and conducts research to cure disease. The Ronald McDonald House provides the comforts of home to families whose children are hospitalized far from home.
