Homelessness, poverty, racial, cultural and class strife, an ecologically degraded environment… all these things are multiple crises, all coming to a head now. More than anything, these represent the failure of Spirit, the failure of consciousness.
In the face of this, many people and organizations are stepping up and creating new systems and structures to help people in these troubled times.
Based on Shariff Abdullah’s paradigm-bending book of speculative fiction, “The Chronicles of the Upheavals”, this presentation and interactive dialog will examine current and near-future events, helping us find practical ways to resolve our challenges, by applying our highest values.
In a mixture of presentations, thought questions, interactive dialogs and small-group work, participants will explore several themes, including:
How is our society driving us crazy? Why is mental illness at crisis levels? HOW DO WE END IT?
In a society of plenty, why is their lack? How come there’s not enough housing? HOW DO WE CREATE IT?
Regardless of the question, why is the answer violence? HOW DO WE ELIMINATE IT?
Despair, depression, drugs, suicide: how did so many of us reach the bottom? WHERE IS OUR WAY UP?
