STRATFORD, CT — An 88-year-old Stratford woman will have another chance to argue her case against being evicted from her home of more than 50 years by family members, according to the Connecticut Post. The Post reports Maria Michaels was granted a reprieve when the state Appellate Court recently ruled that she must get a new hearing on her plea to remain in her home because one of her defense arguments was improperly dismissed by the trial judge without a hearing. Michaels was previously ordered to vacate her Rosebrook Drive home after her nephew and his wife argued that she became a burden following an ankle injury. Michaels sold the home to them in 1999 under the condition that she would live there as long as she wasn't a burden, the Post previously reported. Read more at the Connecticut Post here.
