STAMFORD, CT—The Stamford Public School District has revised its quarantine requirements for staff and students. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Michael Fernandes gave an update during Tuesday's weekly COVID briefing with Mayor David Martin. Elementary School-related exposures: Instead of automatically quarantining an entire classroom, if one person tests positive, the District will utilize current contact tracing protocols for determining those who are close contacts, and only those students or staff members identified as such (if they are not fully vaccinated) will need to quarantine. School/non-sports related quarantine: Students and staff may return after 10 days, instead of 14, without the need for a negative test and with no COVID-19 associated symptoms. Quarantine related to sports: 10 days and a negative PCR test, taken on or after day 8. No COVID-19 associated symptoms. (applicable to athletes, coaches, officials and other participants after a known exposure) Following the Food and Drug Administration's authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for those age 12-15, Fernandes said the school district is currently working with the Stamford Department of Public Health and Community Health Centers to develop an inoculation plan. "Those details will be coming out shortly," Fernandes said. Fernandes also announced that high school proms will take place outdoors on June 4, and Stamford High School and AITE High School will have their graduationson June 16. Westhill High School's graduation and last day of school will be June 18. More details will be released in the coming weeks. "I know our students and staff are really excited about having those really important events," Fernandes said.
