Info via City of Stamford STAMFORD, CT—The Stamford Police Department welcomed a new officer into the ranks on Monday, as Mayor David Martin administered the oath to Officer Rajvi Blake-Jarvis in a small ceremony at the city's Government Center, according to a news release. Blake-Jarvis is a transfer from the Bridgeport Police Department and completed the state's basic training program at the police academy. Blake-Jarvis will now undergo field training within the department, the news release said. "Stamford continues to be the safest city in New England thanks to the work of the City's police force. By becoming a member of the Police Department, Officer Blake-Jarvis is taking on a very important role to protect Stamford residents," said Mayor Martin in the news release. "Being sworn in today builds on a strong tradition of working together with the community to keep everyone safe as she risks everything to protect the families that live here." Director of Public Safety Ted Jankowski said Blake-Jarvis' family should be very proud. "Stamford Police Officers are trained and prepared to respond to all types of incidents and interact professionally when residents are experiencing probably the worst moments of their lives. On completion of field training, I am confident that Officer Blake-Jarvis will be an asset to the department and the City to protect the lives and property of residents, and to respectfully serve the community with the highest quality of service," he said. SPD Chief Tim Shaw was also in attendance on Monday, and said in the news release that "Stamford is the safest in the region because of our exceptional Police Officers and their dedication to keeping the community safe." "This new recruit fits the expectations we have for our officers," Shaw added. "This new recruit will be provided with the best training and equipment so that she too can provide the same level of dedication, professionalism and courage to keep our community safe."
