Press release from Bowdoin College: Published May 10, 2021 by Tom Porter A quartet of experts from the Bowdoin community recently tackled one of the most pressing environmental issues facing the planet: the effect of climate change on the Arctic. The event, which occurred on April 14, 2021, was called Challenges and Choices: Rapid Change in the Arctic, and it looked at the current social and environmental challenges and choices in the Arctic region. The guests were Andrew Hartsig '95, director of the Arctic Program at Ocean Conservancy; Susan Kaplan, professor of anthropology and director of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum and Arctic Studies Center at Bowdoin; and Laura Henry, professor of government at Bowdoin. The moderator was Genevieve LeMoine, curator and registrar of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum at Bowdoin. The discussion was followed by a Q&A.
