TINLEY PARK, IL — If you're looking to take a dip this summer, you might not have to travel too far. Tinley Park Park District's White Water Canyon Water Park is opening this June, after remaining closed in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The water park is scheduled to open June 5. The park district plans to have the water park operate following 2020 IDPH and CDCD guidelines, adding they anticipate the possibility that the state may update guidelines prior to opening day. Since last March there has been many updates and changes throughout the park district's planning. For now, this is what the park district knows at this time: The facility can operate at 50 percent capacity — about 800 people.Multiple groups of 50 guests are allowed as long as they are separated by 30 feet between each group.When guests are not in the water, masks need to be worn at all times in the facility.Concession stand can open under DECO guidelines for bars/restaurants.Shared "equipment," such as rafts, tubes, lounge chairs, etc., needs to be sanitized after use. "As always, we want to provide a fun and safe environment for all our guests at White Water Canyon Water Park," the park district states on its website. "Our plans will be adapted as new guidelines come from the governing agencies, and we will keep the public informed. As has been the case since last March, there may be many updates and changes throughout our planning. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work to make this a great swimming season!" According to the park district's website, the facility will operate at the following dates and times: June 5 - August 15: 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm / Members only may enter at 11:30 amJuly 4: 10:00 am to 6:00 pmAug. 16 - Sept. 6: Closed Monday through ThursdayFriday (Aug. 20, 27 and Sept. 3): 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday/Sunday (Aug 22, 23, 28, 29 and Sept. 4, 5): 11:00 am to 7:00 pmLabor Day, Sept. 6: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Tinley Park Park District residents will pay a $9 — $5 after 5:00 p.m. and $5 after 4:00 p.m. starting Aug. 16 — admission fee.
