Commercial Door, Frame, and Hardware Sales/Inside sales This position is mainly inside sales, and customer service position. Position requires local travel and project management. This position requires the ability to work with many different people at once. At any one time you may be working indirectly for multiple people, companies, and vendors, all with different personalities and requirements. This position requires extensive door, frame, and hardware product and installation knowledge. On the job training available! This position demands excellent self-starting, organizational, and time management skills. It is critical to keep the projects you are working on organized so that various management staff can find them while you are out of the office or with a customer. It is important for you to look at your workload and be able to communicate back to management where you are at on a specific project and how long it will take you to complete it. RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Commercial door, frame, and hardware sales. Meet sales/profit goals as assigned by management staff • Handles phone sales and walk in sales of all doors, frames, and hardware that Builders Hardware and Supply distributes • Call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and/or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone. Valid driver’s license and Insurance is a requirement of this position as there is some jobsite travel required to verify existing conditions and confirmation of proper installations/troubleshooting • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples, catalogs, and emphasizes salable features. • Quotes prices and prepares sales for orders obtained/Project Management. • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules. • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database. • Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts. • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries. • Attends trade shows. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Heavy use of fractional measurements and conversion between fractional and decimal numbers. Extensive use of tape measures and basic addition and subtraction of fractional numbers SUPPLEMENTAL TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY Ability to effectively use current suite of Microsoft Windows (excel, word, outlook, access, and power point). Displayed competency with portable communications devices such as smart phones and/or other mobile electronic/computer equipment. Competency of internal operating systems (eclipse) and any other software which supports this position. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
