NOVATO, CA — A Novato Unified School District appointee for a key administrative role has received board approval. Jennifer Larson last month was appointed as Assistant Superintendent, Education Services. The board approved the appointment May 4. The appointment is effective July 1. Larson started at NUSD as a teacher and has had served in several roles including as interim Assistant Superintendent, Education Services. She has also worked at Herff Jones Publishing as a sales representative. "Ms. Larson is an advocate for the equity and success of every student and is whole-heartedly dedicated to the initiatives and goals that NUSD has adopted," the NUSD said in a statement last month announcing her appointment. Larson replaces Amie Carter who accepted a position at the Marin County Office of Education earlier this year. "Jennifer Larson rose to the top of a very talented pool of 25 candidates for this critical position," Superintendent Kris Cosca said in a statement. "After serving for months as the interim Assistant Superintendent, Education Services, Jen will take the lead of one of our most critical departments bringing great skills, experiences, and a depth of knowledge of the goals of NUSD and our Education Services Department. "Jen will be a key part of our larger team in achieving our student achievement goals, particularly eliminating the predictability of our student test scores."
