TUCSON, AZ — The city of Tucson's Parks and Recreation department will once again begin accepting special events permits on Saturday. Special events will still be limited to 25 percent capacity, while all events will be limited to 250 people, the city said. Applications for events must be submitted 60 days in advance, as the department may not be able to accommodate event requests made less than 30 days before the event date, according to the city. The department is not approving festivals, fairs, processions or parades, car shows, public concerts, performances or movies. Additionally, the Gene C. Reid Park Outdoor Performance Center will remain closed, the city announced. Tucson's mask mandate is still in effect, meaning all persons in the city are required to cover their nose and mouth when in a public setting where social distancing is difficult or impossible.
